It is possible to switch an entire block of R days with someone else- but you have to find someone who wants to trade their block for yours. I did this last month with a guy I met on TNT jumpseat.

Can anyone share what a normal months schedule looks like?

You will be scheduled 15 out of 28 days a month 8 months a year and 19 out of 35 days 4 months a year. On reserve, in a 757, for an FO, in March, the blocks vary from 4 days to 19 days in length, with everything in between. March is a 35 day month for us. The 19 day block is at the end of the month so you could have the first 16 days off.
