Default Hotel door notice

With amount of redeye flying we are doing and sleeping during the day, there has also been an increase instances where the maids will still knock on the doors even though there is a do not disturb sign hanging. I had heard maybe UPS has ones which crewmembers carry and standout from the hotel ones thereby alerting the hotel staff not to knock (hopefully). Im just trying to confirm this. And if so, can someone pm me a picture so i can get some ideas to throw to our safety department to get these made up for our crews as well.

Thanks in advance

Hey, I get to be the first to ask. What airline?

Let the front desk/hotel management know. It can happen at any hotel regardless of what airline you work for.

I've been using a device when traveling that secures a hotel door from intrusion, (unless they breech the hinges)

Here's an example;

If you and your crew isn't using a similar device I highly recommend it.

I usually call the front desk if I want to sleep in and don't want the room serviced and 99% of the time it works.

Very cool! IPA should issue this to all pilots who get off probation!

Welcome onboard! Here's your anti-gummer device! LOL!

I've never seen any different "do-not-disturb" signs than the hotel issued versions but some guys/gals will carry an extra sign for the specific hotel, for example in Cologne, because the sign might be missing when they check into their room. So rather than calling front desk for a new one they'll use their "personal" sign and will then take it with them when checking out.

I've also seen some people taping their do-not-disturb sign to the door as opposed to hanging it on the door handle. I assume it's to make it harder for the neighbor next door from stealing their "don't disturb" sign. It has happened to me before. Apparently some people are too busy to call front desk and request a new one.. :-(

I wouldn't want to have something on the door that identified me as anyone "special" to randoms roaming the hallways...

During the terror attacks in Mumbai the cowards went room to room looking for American, UK or Israeli citizens in particular. There are a few Delta (NWA) crewmembers who have some very harrowing stories about almost getting caught by the terrorist. I'll take the chance on getting woken when I don't want to as opposed to advertising that an American sleeps here.
