FedEx TA Poll--How Did You Vote?
#101
IMO, the percentages of votes in favor/against the TA are not directly representative of the unity we would have had the TA been rejected. I believe the unity would be much greater than "57%" worth, just as it was before the vote. Obviously moot now, but we just did not have enough opportunities to demonstrate our unity.

That has been one of my points since the MEC voted 10-4 to send the TA out for a vote. I think everyone can agree that no NC can effectively negotiate if their side isn't unified behind their effort. Our best negotiating environment (perhaps the best we will ever have) was in the month or two leading into the TA being completed. As soon as the TA talking points were leaked, our unity started to dissolve and as illustrated very clearly on APC, got progressively worse until the vote closed.

Gotta agree with Rock on this. Hindsight being what it is, it was a tactical error to send the TA to the membership. They should have just said "Sorry, not good enough," and thanked the NC for their efforts but replace them since this was the best they could get given the Company's position. That way we would have preserved the unity we had and empowered the new NC to demand a better deal. Lesson learned, I hope...
