Absolutely. Their answer was stunned disbelief about how out of touch pilots at FedEx seem. Now before you throw darts at me, I am simply telling you what they said. Keep in mind, none of our new hires just fell off the turnip truck. Most know all about contracts and negotiations. They have very interesting perspectives. Take some time and talk to them.

Go talk to people who have just started training and are making $2k a month. Or to the guys looking to get hired in the next couple years that will be forced to live with that same income because you want to pad your paycheck even more. Go talk to our most junior pilots who have actually worked at companies with lousy contracts and can't believe what they are hearing from senior FedEx pilots.
I don't know where you came from or how old you are. I do know this. I've flown for four major airlines. I've been the new guy on reserve and training/first year pay for four years. In my experience, the people that you cite above are more than likely the biggest advocates of us doing anything and everything possible to improve the contract.
Let me put it to you this way: You are at the starting line of a race. Someone proposes that, if you'll be patient, they are going to try their best to move your starting blocks ahead of all the others. Are you going to say no thanks, I'll just start here. This is fine. Besides, what if you can't move them? I think not.

Also, if it was just GREED motivating the NO voters than they would just take the money. It is the QOL issues that motivate the majority of the NO voters. I will retire under whatever we end up with. I could just take the money and run but I want my last six years here to be better than the last nineteen.

One of the reasons I chose to come to FedEx was because it is the most flexible airline with regard to choosing your own airline lifestyle. When I got hired, our pay rates were well below all the other majors. I didn't care then, it isn't my concern now. This TA has multiple changes that will significantly improve my quality of life. And it is already pretty good. If anyone wants to join me in the QOL pool, jump right on in to the right seat of the 757.

So go talk to them. The ones I talked to think the TA does improve our contract. They can explain their own reasons. But like you, many of them did not come here at the start of their airline career race. Many have families. Many have been in this race for a long time. They've lived under some pretty lousy contracts. When they look at ours, they aren't feeling your pain.

"It could be a lot worse" is a strong position. In fact, I run my life by setting floors rather than goals.

(sarcasm intended)
BTW, I'm a very senior 757 FO. Hard to believe how we can see this so differently. I will go out on a limb here and guess that you went military then FDX (I'm both). The argument that someone else has it worse is pervasive in the military. I think it's a symptom of the resignation that comes with a job where they own you. I am not willing to take that tact here - they don't own me.

No. You added it after I typed my response to your original post.
I'm guessing you didn't attend too many weapons and tactics conferences in your military career. Whole auditoriums full of the smartest man in the room. All violently disagreeing with great gusto and ball walking machismo. It is possible for people in similar situations and with similar backgrounds to see things in more than one way.
Regarding owning you...until you are willing to walk away, you are owned. There is exactly nothing keeping anyone from leaving FedEx. As miserable as some people on this website seem with their FedEx careers, I question their sincerity since they haven't already found another way to make a living.
