Default FDX FxCal Swap Bulletin Board

My data says the FxCal Swap Bulletin Board has been one the more successful attempts at filling that need for the crew force.
Lots of posts and more importantly, lots of replies.

The company has now implemented the trip proffer system in VIPS.
I think that is a good thing for the crew force, but I do not think it fulfills all the needs of a swap bulletin board.
It is better than the GIVE function in the FxCal bulletin board for two reasons: It is built in to VIPS, and it has two options MKU and TPU.
I still see a need for guys to communicate things like, 'Hey, I got a west coast deadhead, looking for an east coast deadhead.' That need is not filled by getting to drop your trip through a proffer.

So, going forward, I intend to maintain the FxCal Swap bulletin board, but only the SWAP function and I have removed the GIVE function. VIPS trip proffers are now visible in the FxCal open time listing, with all the immediately available information, just like other trips. It should be an overall improvement for us.

Uh oh, I see your logic, however we would definitely miss your trip giveaway function. The problem with the trip proffer on VIPS is that it won't allow you to proffer a trip within 72 hours. If you get rid of your trip giveaway function, then we have no way to get rid of a trip at the last minute.

Another “downer” about removing this feature is the ability to stay off VIPS (and the trail it leaves) in case other scheduling options are needed.

App,
Not trying to make more work for ya but I would still like FxCal to run as status quo, as it did before. The company did a great thing(contract directed) but they still aren't even close to fxcal standards. IMHO, just because they got their commodore 64 programmers to put something in, doesn't mean you should change the way you have set your program up. Some will use VIPS that don't use fxcal, but die hard FxCal users will not change the way they do business. Again, not trying to make extra work for ya but really like what we have.

All good points!!
Let me take a look.
The good thing is I only disabled GIVE - I did not delete the code.

Thank you for taking a look at it, appDude. Your giveaway function has saved my a$$ so many times at the last minute....the fact that the company proffer won't even allow you to enter it after 72 hours prior makes it tough. I'd hate to have to go back to the old system of emailing 50+ guys (most of whom don't read their email).

Maybe allow GIVE postings only within 72 hours.
Prior to 72 hours, use Proffer, which will be visible in VIPS and FxCal.
Under 72 hours use FxCal to post GIVE.
Comments?

I would personally like it to work the entire time. Avid users will still take advantage of your programming. Kinda like open time, just cause it's there, doesn't mean that me using it is the best way to do it. Just my two cents.
