Default Need MEM vehicle for BI & Training

What do folks do for "short term" vehicle requirements? Rentals seem a bit much at $200+/week; and for a couple of months, doesn't seem to make sense to buy a beater (assuming there's even a market to choose from). I'm headed to CGN so I definitely don't need/want a MEM "crash pad vehicle". I start BI on 2 May. Thx.

Try hertz or enterprise and ask for the FDX rate. I have rented cars for 110 a week from Hertz.

Set up something for the first few days. Once you meet your sim partner you might find that splitting one will work.

This won't work because you won't have a sim partner. You will have seat support the entire time. Unless you get paired with a upgrading Captain.

I would say though the majority of people running through the system are getting seat support.

Dollar.com usually has the best week long (or longer) rentals. Click the "city special box" that pops up after you enter in your dates.

Rent one for 2 x weeks and then like other guys are saying, see if you need to rent it for a couple of more or someone you meet there has a car you can borrow.

Is driving to MEM an option?

Not from Hawaii...

Thanks to all for the replies and input. Sounds like there are some short term (two week) options for BI and then I'll figure out the sim training portion.

Still hunting for a crash pad as well... good times.

When we had the last big hiring wave in 2001, the crash pad availability was almost nothing. Most pilots just found friends in the first few days of BI and went in on apartments and started their own places.

It all seemed to work out.

There were a lot of Pinnacle guys then, now not so much.
