losing retirement kept him alive!

This may have been posted but saw this chap interviewed and he said the thought of Fedex keeping his retirement kept him from dying:D

The Incredible Story of a Man Who Survived 20 Hours Stranded at Sea

One thing he didn't think about was death. "I was really ****ed off at myself for being so dumb. I thought, This is too stupid to die over. I'm retiring, and I'm going to get at least one of those retirement checks."

Any truth to the rumor that this is the second time he's done something like this?

1) So when is the retirement party ?
2) Any Wag going to play the theme song from "Jaws" at his party
3) Is he going to sell his boat ?

Some cynics may say sell the boat to make up for lost $$ by sticking around to 65. Being a glass half full person, I'd say he'll be double happy. You know, one of the 2 happiest days of a boat owners life is the day he sells his boat. Couple that with a retirees first check being a happy day, and what a way to go. ;)

Did he ever recover the boat? When the CG picks you up, rarely do they give you a ride out to your boat later so you can drive it back in to port.

Mindboggling story....

If he said that, he must have a great sense of humor, because I don't believe that he would have been thinking that, while floating in a dark sea, with stuff bumping his legs. Bet he was hoping that he wouldn't get eaten by a shark. I know that's what I'd be concerned about, not that you could do anything about that anyway.

The article said "Even though his boat had washed up on shore at 1 a.m."
