I voted based on the merits of what I saw in the contract. I didn't take into account what others may or may not have done...

I think he voted based not on what he thought others may do, but what he saw others doing. It was the same during this negotiation period as it was during 4.a.2.b. and again during the previous CBA negotiations. Pilots not picking their heads out of the trough long enough to see what damage they were doing. Pilots who were vocal against the company and their time wasting tactics, yet were on a draft trip. Pilots who demanded a "Contract Now!" but filled their schedules with open time trips. If those pilots couldn't restrain themselves during contract negotiations or during 4.a.2.b., what's to make anyone think that they'll change their spots when the rubber hits the road?

I was and am willing to do what it would have taken to get a contract I deserve. I was ready. I voted on the merits of the contract (as I saw it) not on how "others" would or wouldn't support me.

Maybe unity is simply not being scared of the "others"
I followed the vacation buyback in the triple and 76. I followed the draft calls in the 76. There were a lot of vocal noes flying their rumps off while I spent two years flying BLG.

Again with respect to your yes vote. So what? I flew the last 18 years of BLG. Did you vote for the contract based on it's merits? Or your perceived lack of "others" support?

I voted yes because the contract made gains in areas I wanted fixed. Particularly 4A2b. Had I though we had a unified crew force willing to turn down the money I was turning down, I would have voted no. Given all of th factors it was the best we were going to get.

So when was the last contract ant any airline done on time? It looks like DAL is getting close and retro pay.
So when has any airline bargained in good faith?
Which one of our LOA's have been good?
I'm still waiting for the promised A380 pay which in bad faith was reduced to widebody 777.

To the company we are nothing but an expense #. We are like tires or oil filters. If they can make them last longer or buy them cheaper, they will. Us too.

It's pretty easy to see a handful of folks being selfish and short-sighted, and The Company really enjoys it when that tiny minority is given the power to spook a larger crowd -- like you.

It's a lot harder to see the THOUSANDS who were being patient and thoughtful and working toward a better long-term solution. It's also a lot harder to quantify the disappointment they experienced when the weaker sheep get scared and run towards the cliff.

Here we are a year later, and The Company still needs vacation buy-back in EVERY SEAT in the airline, except for the Airbus guys in Hong Kong that they can't seem to train. Why, because they're hiring new pilots off the street faster than they can train them.

Think about it. With EVERYONE working extra, it's still not enough now, and you were worried about a handful last year?!?! There's a reason The Company finally came to the table ready to make a deal -- it's because they could no longer survive without more than a handful of the people you saw trying to make a quick buck.

Some people spook easy.

I didn't run towards anything. I made a business decision. It was the right one. We can pretend that UPS got a deal because they were unified and had the company over a barrel, or we can figure it was inevitable once we signed. We still have the best contract in the industry and I wouldn't trade PBS for deltas pay rates nor Nurps for the UPS pay rate.
