Default Indy Transportation

This is a quick question hopefully. The best way to get from our Indianapolis Hub to the downtown hotels in the dead of night (on your own dime). Carey? Royal? Does Uber work at our hours? Thanks.

Don't use Carey - their prices are ridiculous.

AAA Indy taxi. (317) 261-1111 (cars are green)

~$35 to downtown hotels. I've call the main number when my jumpseat flight blocked out and had a car waiting for me an hour later. I've also gotten the card of a specific driver and had him come get me on several occasions. Also waiting for me when I walk out of the building. Just give them the address of the security building/service center: 6648 S Perimeter Rd to arrange the pick-up.

I don't see why uber wouldn't work there but I've never tried it. They don't really have "hours" do they? Just need a driver awake and in the area. I prefer to have my rides pre-arranged and I can definitely recommend AAA.

Go Green Shuttle is good and probably the cheapest ($10), but not sure they run super late pm or early am. I've never had a problem with Uber, especially at a major airport.

I have used uber, like many airports, you have to walk out the FDX door before you call up the app or it will think you are going to the pax terminal.

You can move the pin to any pickup location, you don't need to be physically standing outside or where you actually want to be picked up. You can also type in the address.

I have used Uber for a pickup for an inbound arrival. Passenger flights arrive in the 11:30pm - 1:30am window so usually a driver around.

Uber now allows one to schedule a pickup as well (maybe only available in bigger cities).

One thing to consider, is the crew you're jumpseating with going to a downtown hotel? I'd first try to hitch a ride with them. Probably unlikely, though, they'd generally be going to the Crowne Plaza, but not always.

Yes, Uber always/almost always defaults to the terminal. That's fine- you can request stepping off the plane, and once a driver accepts either text them your no kidding physical location/address or call them and do the same. I do that all the time.

That's fine if you don't mind beginning the whole process by confusing the driver. You know, the drivers rate the riders, too.

When UBER opens, there's that black flag in the middle that says, "SET PICKUP LOCATION." Press that "button" and type or paste in 6648 S Perimeter Rd. Now your UBER driver knows exactly where to pick you up.

Follow up with a call if you like, but it will then be to affirm your location, not to correct it.
