leather jackets
Anyone have recent info on jacket choice. I've been to the BomCrewmall store on Dubai/Mumbai layovers but have not heard much about Perrone. Trying to weigh the calfskin/goatskin/lambskin choice as well
|
I got a calfskin jacket in Dubai three years ago.
Last winter I was taking the name patch off to go undercover and the jacket ripped - about a 5 inch tear in the calfskin. I tried to ship it back to Anil to fix it and was basically told I have to bring it to him, or get a friend to. Shipping the jacket back to him could cause customs problems. That said, I loved the jacket. It's custom fit. |
I love my soft lambskin one. Custom made; light and can pack in bag if needed. Ordered over the phone and Aniel had a buddy of his (DL 777 Capt) carry it back to our mutual hometown. Drove over and picked it up to save all the shipping costs.

Any word on a vegan option for the new jacket?
|
The sell hemp ones in Colorado, Washington and Oregon. A few more states just approved them in this last election.
|
I thought the announcement about the jackets said there was going to be displays of them in MEM AOC. Any word on if that is true? Would be nice to see all examples in one place to compare/contrast.

Horse hide and goat skin offer the best protection. If you need veal skin you might want to tuffen up a bit.
Heck, it's hard to beat wool as well. |

Sorry to butt in on your FedEx thread...
I've had a Perrone goatskin coat for probably 12 years. The thing shows virtually no wear after that time. I also got the Thinsulate removable liner and that works well in the winter. I had them customize the coat and leave off the leather patch and velcro entirely when I had mine made. One downside is that the coat is quite heavy, so if you're not looking for that you may not like it. Also, even without the liner it can get a little warm in the spring or otherwise warmer months. Usually I just leave it at home entirely during about May-September and deal with any minor cooler weather some other way. |
