A common misconception, because in fact the FDA guys are the highest paid pilots in the company.
Obviously higher in HKG, but the majority of guys who were senior MEM WB captains for well over a decade before going to CGN, still made more in CGN as NB captains. Tax-free housing allowance, in addition to tuition allowance, all CH and perdiem international, and HILO perdiem only (we gave some of that up, but not all), added to NB pay puts you above WB pay (although extra $ is not pensionable).
If you and your family, or as an empty nester couple, or young single guy/gal, want to get to truly know Europe, not in a 3-week-vacation-at-a-time style, it actually is a phenomenal deal, IMO.

Not sure where your fact is from. If you are calculating it on base pay plus the incentives, then yes, if you are basing it on paycheck or w-2s pretty sure you are mistaken. Tuition allowance is sparse at best so if you are a multi child family, you are digging into your pockets for that.

This is what I heard directly from all of the most senior captains in CGN, most of whom didn't get tuition allowance anyway, since they weren't there with kids, and had been WB captains in MEM/ANC for over a decade before EUR.
Housing allowance is around $45k/year, TAX FREE. That surpasses the $40/hr difference bewtween 15 NB and WB captain pay, particularly when that hourly rate is taxed. Then take into account all CH and perdiem are international, and in some cases the travel expenses paid by HILO and HILO/perdiem only. As I said - it's not all pensionable. I also lived it. Made more as a NB FO there than most MEM WB FO's in my seniority (except for some of the 777 guys).
My point was that the oft-repeated "going to Europe for low NB pay is unsat" does not cover the full story.
