Another issue is first year pay. Although you can get a housing allowance if you fastidiously "follow the rules," it may not cover the additional expenses of being in an FDA. Finally, the school tuition can be greater than the benefit, I understand...

First year pay is now $100/hour in an FDA.

The "rules" you have to follow to get the housing allowance is "move your family to Cologne and establish a permanent residence there." I know there were issues in HKG, and I'm not going to get into that whole ball of wax. There have been NO issues with housing allowances, etc., in the EUR FDA (to my knowledge).

The new education allowance $15K/year will cover one child in an International school in Bonn. Two, you'll more than likely be paying out of pocket some amount.
