"Nobody died" because Captain Sanders showed mercy on Calloway and chose not to finish him off with his own hammer.

Perhaps that is lesson many of us should internalize if faced with such evil in our homes, cockpits, or the street.

That's absolutely right. The crew, and Captain Sanders specifically, had both the opportunity and the right to kill Calloway in the midst of the "fracas." In fact, once Calloway had been kinda-sorta subdued and Captain Sanders had to return to the cockpit to land the plane, he ordered Captain (acting First Officer) Tucker to do so if Calloway tried to resume the fight. Sanders, Tucker, and Peterson showed much restraint in not killing Calloway on the spot, which would have been entirely justified as self-defense. These gentlemen just had too much character and respect for life to do so without it being absolutely necessary.

A close friend of mine flew with him in the Navy. (Same squadron) Callaway sceamed up and down he was getting railroaded out the Navy because of his race. To which the CO replied, "Your race has nothing to do with it; you can't fly worth a $hi& and you failed carrier qualifications twice, and your dangerous to everyone on the carrier!"

One of my previous Skippers was also in his squadron. He said Callaway played the race card every chance he could. Irony was, if he was a white dude, he would have been drummed out of the Navy before he got to the fleet.

That's EXACTLY what Travis told me. The guy's a psychopath. FEDEX found out he lied to Flying Tigers, and was being investigated when the merger took place. I hope he's miserable in Supermax.
