Be hard to answer that now as it's going to change soon as the last bid in Jan. had over 100 vacancies in each of those fleets but they haven't put any new hires into either of them since Jan except the last two classes had a few trickle in but by the end of the year they will each have 100 more on each.

Agree it is hard to answer, but both fleets have/are adding aircraft and are growing at about 100 pilots a year. It is hard to answer because reserve can go relatively senior and they have reduced the number of reserve lines. But a lot of reserve is handed out during the secondary process. I have talked to several new hires in the 76 who seem to agree you can hold a crappy line after 4 to 6 months.

If Connection Pilot is asking the question because he doesn’t want to sit around a crash pad in Memphis my guess is some of the crappy lines will have you commuting to and spending quite a few nights a month in Memphis. Reserve might not look so bad.

Well I live in BNA so a few nights in MEM isn't such a big deal. It was more of a gathering information post. Thanks for the response though.

Does this mean the remaining new hire classes for the year are likely to have more 67s and 77s?

I imagine still healthy on the 757 slots. And the rest 76/77.

Also, check your PM's.

Pay rates can be found here on airline pilot forums.

Very, very good rule of thumb is to take pay rate and multiply by 1000. For example, pay rate of $100 per hour would mean an annual pay of $100,000. Of course you’ll find some higher and lower depending on if someone works more/less, lives in base and gets draft sometimes, does international and gets override, etc. But, for purposes of projecting, the rule of thumb will get you very close and generally be on the low side, so the extra is “bonus” to your calculations.

Default Differences in aircraft flying

The most recent class had new hires going to all aircraft in the fleet, would any of the more seasoned folks be willing to explain what to expect on each fleet when it comes to flying, time on reserve, hotel standby locations (is this memphis only?), how long to get to double DHs.

From reading on here, I have the following impression:
757: lots of North America flying, night hub turns, fastest to gain seniority as people bid out for WB pay
767: growing fleet, OAK hub will do One Asia flying
777: Most senior, longer trips
MD-11: Been going away for years, keeps flying, lots of asia and international
A300:?

Thanks!

A300, will most likely be the most junior wide body. Mix of day and night. Flights generally around the 1.5- 2.5 hours. DDH goes senior
