Flexjet fires you when you give 2 week notice
Was told by a Flexjet pilot I met on the road today that Flexjet fires an individual as soon as two week notice is given? Any truth to this? Flexjet seems to be stretched to the max - she claims working 14 hour days continuously due to pilot shortage. Why would they terminate someone because someone wants to move on in their career and gives proper notice?

To be spiteful.
That way you have a “fired” on your record. From a business stand point: you’re probably not very motivated in the “do-the-best-job-you-can” department once you’ve given notice. |

I have not heard of being fired when you give notice. They do however keep you at home for the 2 weeks.
I guess they don’t want you to be smiling all week, it would be bad for the moral of the others who still have not found another job. So don’t give notice until he last day you want to actually work, you will still get two more weeks pay. |

Many businesses across many industries limit the possible actions of employees after they have given notice. Radio stations take DJs off the air, people who speak in public for their companies are transferred to duties where they cannot create damage, etc. Sometimes the easiest way so to hand them a final 2-week paycheck and say goodbye.
Great companies with wonderful morale among employees seldom find a need to be punitive. All bets are off if you are terminated for cause. These are the people who are watched as they pack their desk, and escorted off the premises. They are also the people who have been known to walk off with their laptops, CDs of company customer lists and other proprietary secrets, etc. Pilots know many ways to leave a trail of havoc behind, if their sense of professionalism and decency fails them. |
Just talked to another Flexjet pilot and he confirmed that he is aware of several pilots that were terminated immediately upon resignation. Wow

It’s not uncommon at fractional airlines. I had the same after I put in my two weeks. Didn’t bother me, an added two week paid vacation.

I didn’t get fired when I left early last year but it is one classy joint.
After over 17 years of service, over 10,000 accident free, incident free hours not a single disciplinary action ever against me, when I go turn in my company items Joe Scott looks at me shakes my hand and says well good luck I guess and then turns and starts talking to someone else. Well ok then. Left the building and went home and had a bonfire and burned the rest of my uniform items. Never got anything else from anyone saying thank you or best of luck. Not that I need someone to blow sunshine up my a$$ but interesting listening to pilots I work with now how different many of there experiences were when they left their last employers. And Kenneth loves to talk about the family at Flight Options. Oh, I’m sorry that’s Flexjet. |
