A few things incorrect above. Billings is already an approved base, 8/7 is the training schedule and you have the option, but are not required, to switch to PBS when you get done with training.

True, but you can count on PBS.

As for airframes, they don’t put it in writing. As of now you could get anything from Phenom/Lear to Legacy/Challenger. The only thing you won’t get is any Gulfstream or Global.

True, but be careful. They may send you the study material for the Legacy 450, but when you show up at class is when you find out you are now in the Phenom 300. When the instructor got asked what happened "he didn't know anything about it."

Wrong! Complete lie here.

Nope. He was a check pilot at Flex. It’s about 100% accurate. Flex isn’t staffed to do anything else, and I doubt they’ve made up for the ongoing attrition.

My friend just completed a 7 day hitting 24 airports, riding 3 airlines and flying 3 different tails. And that’s not unusual.

This has happened, however they are not telling you what aircraft you get until first day of INDOC now. This change was put in place to avoid the above happening, that would understandably be frusturating.

It may happen here and there, but this is not what happens every trip. That’s just embellishment by some saying this happens ALL THE TIME. I will give you that riding airlines def sucks, just a horrible product provided by all of them. However, I just don’t understand why people complain about 3-4 legs a day. We are pilots, we fly airplanes...that’s the job. Just seems like whining to me. I’m currently on day 1 today sitting home reserve near my family, will have no assignment today. Tomorrow I have an airline at 10am to meet a tail. Sooooo, the aforementioned regarding all the “abuse and torture” clearly isn’t true of EVERY trip.

Well, you’ve already admitted in your post that you fly 3-4 legs a day. But airlining puts a dent in your ability to fly trips on those travel days. So your non airlining days will be more like 4-5 legs a day.

Maybe it’s on 85-90-% of the trips. Maybe it’s only 3/4’s. It’s still an ongoing buttkicking virtually every time you head out.

And flying isn’t the issue. The min rests, cleaning, stocking, switching sides of the clock etc. is the beat down. Why, if all you had to do was fly you’d work for an airline.

It seems like whining to you because you’ve never had a job that didn’t abuse you. Home reserve? It’s either your FOK favored status, your office privledges or more likely your IRL/DML is down for mx. And that’s why I post on these threads. Because guys like you have trouble posting the unvarnished truth. I’m fairly confident I didn’t have a day or home reserve in my last 4-5 years at Flex.

Riding the airlines shouldn’t suck. You should have quite a bit of status unless you are new or have a desk in Cleveland. You get the pick of seats and all sorts of nice bennies.

I can see that happening now, but the pilot quit anyway because he felt like the company tricked him into showing up.

Agree to disagree. Airlines suck in general, status or not

How could you not like riding in an airplane? You’re getting paid to sit on your butt and collect miles. What are you complaining about?
