Flex currently has 4 G650s.

Take delivery of all 50 if desired... they aren’t selling.

But it sounds sensational in the news.

They have almost as many Gulfstreams as NetJets now. They are growing their large cabin. NetJets is shrinking large cabin. I see that as good for Flex and bad for NetJets. NetJets has also rarely taken full orders. If a recession comes along and buries Flex, I would be very surprised. NetJets management is pretty entrenched in that idea for how to combat large cabin competition. They let the competition in and let them grow and will now have to accept that the money machine that they had is now winnowing away. At least they have greatly improved the profit on the small cabin side.

I'm pretty sure NJ have taken all the Phenoms and Latitudes they ever ordered (certainly the firm orders) and although it's been a while I think the same is true for the XLs/XLSs.

Netjets' Gulfstream fleet is shrinking because the Global fleet is growing.

Having said that, I agree that the recent Flex orders are better airplanes than their NJ equivalents. The mid and super-mid Embraers are "real airplanes" compared to a Latitude and the current big Gulftstreams are more impressive than a G6000. We will see how the 7500 turns out.

The Gulfstream fleet at NetJets has been steady at 20 airframes for almost two years now. The retirement plan is a moving target and depends on who you talk to in the Brain Trust and on what day of the week.

We haven’t ceded our best and most profitable customers to Flex (well, okay, a few), we have lost most of them to whole ownership because of the neglect and incompetence of CMH. Vista has nibbled away as well.

At this point, I hope we DON’T buy new Gulfstream models. For a LOT of reasons. I just hope management is as wrong about the retirement date of the 450/550 as they were about the G-IV. If so, a lot of us can retire off this fleet.

Didn't you just got a large customer back, after their short vacation at FXJ?

Haven't heard about that one but we have lost one of our top 5 clients to his own G-650, primarily because of CMH incompetence. His minions still fly with us (just did one yesterday) but his personal flying will now be on his own jet. THAT is the true threat to the business.

We have lost at least one other to their own G650.

We also lost a notorious one to his own G-550. In that case, we didn’t exactly shed a tear...
