Now or wait?

Hi all, have a small dilemma and just looking for some opinions. My current job is soon to be relocated to SLC and my plan is to not follow, instead returning to flying full time again.
Where it gets a bit more complicated is the separation date when this happens is only projected for around AUG/Sept, but nothing is written in stone.

In the past I had interviewed at a few operators and was given offers, (Atlas,SKW/ host of other regionals including a few EMS helo operators) but, because I needed to defer the start time and couldn't give the definite time, they were rescinded.

I have now been offered the opportunity to interview with FJ through the calendar link, but hesitate to do so right away as I don't want to kill this opportunity also.

My question is, do I wait until I have the known separation date from my current position before scheduling or risk burning yet, another bridge if I get the CJO then, have to explain my situation.

This isn't a military separation. I only mention that as I know most companies are tolerant of that issue. As they should be.

Anyway, I've done my homework on FJ including, reading everything posted and then some and believe it's the place I need to be.

Much appreciate your thoughts, and thank you kindly for your time..

I'd interview now and knowing the recruiters, I think you could work something out.

Or rather, interview now, and quit now and go to Flex first chance you get.

Do you have your ATP, or ATP written complete?

Yes, have an ATP with a dusty CE500 type.
Would rather not up and quit because I committed to helping them make the transition.
And burning another bridge is the last thing I want to do.
Probably best to get with a FJ recruiter and lay it all out beforehand. Appreciate your advice..

I think its completely fair that you tell your current employer you need to start looking at options and you will give them thru (example) September to assist in the transition. Interview with the understanding your start date will be October. Get a CJO (at wherever) for an October start date, if things happen faster you can always try to get an earlier class date, if things are going to take longer (say maybe a week or two), you can call the recruiter and push it out a few weeks. Keeping in mind most CJOs are only good for 6 months (not sure about Flex). Bottomline is this industry (and economy) could look completely different come October and if there is very little hiring (or layoffs/furloughs), you could end up without any flying job OR back up job all becasue you tried to help your current employer out.

Excellent advice. Much appreciated. Not previously mentioned is there is a hefty severance included when my requirements are fulfilled which
I would like to avoid leaving on the table, given the talk about major changes in the economy at the end of the year. Of course, no one has a crystal ball to predict any of this, including me.
But you raised a good question, can anyone chime in who knows how long a CJO is good with FJ? I know Atlas was 6 months also.
May help a bit in figuring a firmer timeline.

Thank you FD.

Don't believe that you have burnt the airline bridges to the ground. They are so desperate for qualified candidates that you will most likely get called again for an interview. Send an application in if you are still interested. The worst that can happen is a non-reply. The regionals in particular are so desperate for FO's I can't imagine at least one of them not calling.

Appreciate the info Sky.
Unfortunately, at 62 years old, I have to believe I missed the boat on 121 since I'll have to tag out in 3 years
But no loss in throwing another app in any way.
Thankyou...
