Pref bidding has been around since 2000--at least. Why is it so difficult to buy a program that takes care of the pilot's needs? This is especially true here. All they need is a warm body in both seats every day of the month.
It wasn't good at AA and it's obviously not good here. |
Thanks for clarifying. I defiinitely missed something, as I thought I read somewhere that all DRL pilots were 'captains'.

Yes, you're missing the fact that the three of you are only responsible for keeping one half of the aircraft crewed. The SICs all come from the company's currently shambolic PBS bid system and rotate through while the PICs remain (in theory) with their aircraft. Two PICs want Christmas off? Cool, the third takes it. One PIC wants 21 days off in a row? The other two work a 8/6 or 7/5 or whatever they want to during that time to keep the aircraft covered and you throw them a bone as a thank you.

At my previous 121 carrier, the early iterations of PBS were garbage, and required extensive 'intervention and manipulation' by the pilot scheduling committee. However, for about the last 8 years or so, they used a PBS program that is called 'NavBlue' (which I believe is an Airbus product). From what I know, it is strictly seniority based, and works well. The more seniority you have, the better it works. Full disclosure.....I have been pretty senior my last 8 years, which may account for my generally positive review.

All ILC (i.e.Gulfstream and Global) pilots are Captains. I believe they have a team of 8 to cover both seats.

Weve still not gotten our first CS and have been told we won't get a second in 2024 so take that info for what it is.
There are floaters technically but currently only one in the G450 fleet so you cannot rely upon them for help. The idea is the 5 pilots work together to cover shortages within your own tail. |

That sucks. We are about to lose our CS to another opportunity… and have yet to get a second. Not sure what the plan is from the company because a lot of teams only have one if that… The company seems to like the contractors…
