Time as FI?
Hello,
I'm from Europe, and I will start my flight training next year at 24.
I don't really know, but what is the average time to work as instructor before regionals for the next few years? I will be normally legal soon in US
Thanks all
LG

Thanks mate.
I was thinking about come to the US, but I don't know if it will be good for me.
I will start to apply for regional at 28 surely and I think it's late to consider a career in major after. Time for training, instruction and regionals take more that 10 years I guess

Not too late in the US at all. Might be pushing it in other countries, would depend on their rules and hiring practices.

No not necessarily.
But consider 2 years for getting to a Regional then 5 years to upgrade and 2 years as Captain at a Regional.
Round that up and you get to 10 years.
Hiring requirements vary year by year depending on supply and demand but its safe to assume you need turbojet PIC (Captain) time in order to be competitive.

Some regionals are upgrading at as little as 1.5 years. So, you can spend as short as 2.5 years before being eligible for the Majors. The big hurdle is the 1000pic (ie captain at a regional) which can be accomplished in as little as 1 year if you can average roughly 100 hours a month.
