PPL flight training in Central Florida
 

I've heard good things about epic aviation and Aerosim. Just wondering if anyone has a preference or other suggestions? Also, both schools list PPL training averaging at $15,000, which seems a little high (but that's just me). Thanks in advance.

Go to KDAB, Air America FC, choose your own CFI, and do it in less than half of that.
Epic is a massive ripoff aimed for starry eyed "career pilots". They once quoted me $4k for "G1000 transition training".

Thank you! I am getting my PPL for the time being, as my goal is to become a commercial pilot. I am waiting until my wife finishes her degree (end of next year) before I start my full training. I wanted to get my PPL now to satisfy my urge to fly as well as build time until I am ready to fully train for all my certs. That in mind, would you recommend either of those facilities for full training (after my PPL is completed)? Yes, they are expensive, but their airline pathways seem like a great help. Many reviewers on this forum have even stated, at Aerosim at least, that many regionals will hire their CFIs before minimums are met (with the agreement that minimums will be met in a certain time, of course). Is this a valid reason to consider them? How hard is it to get into a regional airline?

Also, with using your suggestion for the PPL, are there scheduling issues with the CFI? I have a wife, kids, and full time job, so my time to train will be limited already...I don't want to further limit that by having scheduling issues with a CFI that has many students. That was a big benefit at Aerosim; 100+ CFI to reduce scheduling issues with many students.

Deland Aviation and Flight Training Professionals in Orlando are good.

Air America has shoddy equipment and some of their business practices are a bit shady.

Oh really? I've heard that of American Aviation, but most seemed to agree Air America was good (from the research I've been doing at least)

Yeah, there is a reason that many of their pilots refer to it as "Scare America" :(

Thats disappointing...any idea on the rates for Deland Aviation or Flight Training Professionals? Don't see it on their websites...also, ever heard of Cloud Dancer Academy? Seen decent reviews for this as well.

I've rented their planes quite a bit and that's just not true - they are your standard flight school planes, some better than others, but none seem unsafe.

What business practices of theirs would you consider shady?
