Default FlightSafety

Greetings,

I just started at FlightSafety Academy in Florida last week. So far it seems to be a great program, and they take their training here very seriously. There are 30 students in my class and the next class will be entering the academy in October.

Please feel free to message me if you have any questions.

What would lead you to believe Aerosim is a "pilot factory" or a "pilot mill"? (Just curious on your reasoning, as they are the only flight school in the U.S with a selection process that isn't only based on money to attend)

Essentially, Embry Riddle is well known in the U.S for aviation academics, and of course they have their Worldwide Program for online education, but they aren't internationally well known for their flight school. If you were to go to Europe and ask aviation students if they heard of Embry Riddle, most would probably say "no". (At least that has been my experience)

I have finally narrowed down my search to two flight schools that I will tour. The first being L3 Airline Academy (Aerosim) and the other being Flight Safety Academy. Yes, both are expensive but if you ever wanted to fly for an airline that accepts FAA ATP internationally you would be at an advantage with a flight school that is recognized across the globe.

I've been in contact with ATP but decided against them since they REALLY try to push their marketing tactics to the point where they called me more than once in a day, sent emails, and text messages to my cell-phone.
Go with what fits your personal style. I went to FlightSafety and loved it. Granted, that was 17 years ago. I liked the structured environment, the instructors, the large fleet (I never had trouble getting a plane), the procedures they used, etc. I also liked Florida for a training environment (File IFR for instrument lessons, able to log actual, etc) and for the beach living. I was always on the beach hanging out with a stack of books...very laid back lifestyle for training

Overall, I enjoyed it. Did my PPL at a grass strip though. Wouldn't trade in either experience. Just pick what works for you.
