IFR exam
Hi-
I am going to be giving my brother ground school for an instrument rating. Can anyone suggest the best textbook to teach from? I am looking for something fairly modern, so things like GPS will be included. Also, if you know something modern or digital simulator and you share with me I would be greatful.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I find the FAA Handbooks are great for teaching just about everything. This is the source used by other publishers like Jeppesen (also good - but expensive). It covers all the modern TAA stuff.
You can get them free online in PDF form from the FAA website.

I can't think of anything more mind numbing then teaching/learning from an FAA text. One of the best Instrument learning books out there is Rod Machado's Instrument Pilot's Handbook

For the knowledge test be sure to have him get Sheppard Air's IRA Exam Prep. It is by far the best way to score well on the knowledge test.
If you're going to be teaching him classroom style I suggest making or finding a syllabus online that follows the Instrument ACS. Using the FAA books and classroom teaching it should be fairly painless to learn the material.
