Default Paper vs. electronic (app) logbook for PPL?

Sorry if this has been discussed, but after searching I couldn't find anything here. Just curious if anyone recommends a paper logbook or an app/electronic logbook when getting your PPL. Thanks in advance.

I'd use a paper logbook for PPL.

If you have an iPhone or Mac download and start with Log Ten Pro. It is free up to 200 or 250 hours of flight time. At the same time, use a paper logbook in case you don't want to use LTP after the free trial.

Use a paper logbook when working towards your certificates. At the end of every lesson, the instructor is required to sign the logbook. When you are flying solo as a student you're also required to carry the logbook with you on your flights.

I would concurrently fill out an electronic logbook if you intend to fly professionally, it will make life easier down the road.

Paper when working towards your licenses. Electronic when you get you first job. I need to get an electronic because writing all my banner tows in my paper one gets old.

I think some electronic logbooks now have functionality for a CFI to electronically sign it?

I keep a paper and electronic logbook. Its really not a big deal. When I finish my commercial I will drop the paper book and keep my electronic up to date.

As I said, I keep both. 50,60,70 years from now your grandkids and great grandkids will LOVE to see your old logbooks on paper. Digital, while great for now won't last. Call me old fashioned but there is a lot of great stuff in some of those old timers paper logbooks that will all be lost in the digital age.

Use both.
One as an electronic back up to the other.
Electronic is convenient for added totals for an 8710 license application or an interview down the road.
But part of the charm of the paper logbook is that it's...paper.
