No need for complex during CSEL???

Hey APC,

I had recently scheduled a CSEL check ride with the examiner and while talking with him he was mentioning that I wouldn't need to bring the Complex Arrow that my PT141 school uses for the check ride. He stated there has been a new rule in effect that allows students to take the CSEL in a G1000 equipped 172, which we have. I just wanted to see if anyone else knew about the rule change, where I could find the rule change, and which you think would be better, taking it with the complex, or the 172. I have already attempted to search for the answer so I am thinking more heads are better than 1. Thanks in advance!

As far as I know this change is still in process, not finalized.

14 CFR 61.129 has not changed “yet”. Also see Commercial PTS, which still requires applicant to present a complex aircraft for the practical test.
