Las Vegas Flight Schools
I'm located in Las Vegas and I'm looking to start my flight training to become a commercial pilot here in the next few months. Has anyone trained here before or have any schools out here they would recomend?

There are a few at KVGT (North Town) ATP- I will let you do your research on that one AirWork- don't really know about that one Elite- This is where I go through Liberty Affiliate Program. Its expensive but they have 2014 C-172s with G1000. Nice planes, scheduling can be a bit of an issue sometimes with the amount of instructors vs large amount of students. I think there are one or two more but I know nothing about them Henderson Cactus Aviation- don't know much about them I am sure there are more at Henderson that I am leaving out So pick which airport is closer to the side of town you live on. Let me know if you want any more opinions about Elite at KVGT |
Thanks for the info!
I've looked into Elite actually. How do you like it? Has the scheduling issue been going on for a while? If I were to go there I'd train full time and try to fly as much as possible. |
I like elite and I think they have a quality program. Scheduling with a regular instructor is no problem. They will let you fly as much as you can afford to for regular lessons.
Scheduling problems come when trying to get stage checks done because they need to be done with a different instructor. I am going to get an incomplete for my PPL with liberty because of the scheduling issues. So I am debating what I am going to do with the rest of the training. I might just go direct through elite and try to transfer my classes to liberty to get the R-ATP. I already have a bachelor's so I might just go direct through elite for instrument thru CFI because the liberty and elite scheduling do not jive. |
That's good to hear. Your situation sounds messed up tho. Hopefully it all works out.
I actually looked into Liberty's program and considered it but they were going to make me take four years of flight training and that's too long for me. Im ex-military so I have the GI Bill but I can't swing four years of full time training especially since I have a bunch of college credits already. From the research ive done the faster you can knock your ratings out the better so that's what I'll try to do. |

You are GI bill so you will need to get your PPL on your own, but everything after can be payed by GI Bill. If you already have college credits you can transfer them into Liberty and you will probably just need to take the flight classes which can be done quickly because Liberty actually has made it available to take 18 units each half semester. So that would be 36 units in a full semester and you could finish all the aviation classes in two semesters. You will probably need to take a religion class and maybe a few other ones, but you could be done in about a year if you do it full time, and you would also need to be flying your instrument and commercial. There is a limit on what GI bill will pay per year for flight training too so that could hold you up. If you go to Elite talk to Stephanie and she can explain it to you. Liberty also partners with Charter College and you might even go faster with them as they will take GI Bill also |

Oh okay thats awesome then. I'll go talk to them. The Liberty admissions guy I talked to over the phone seemed new and not very knowledgeable. He made it sound like it would still take me 4 years even with all of the credits I have. A year or so of training would he doable for me and to have Uncle Sam pay for it would be amazing. Thanks again for the info and the help!
