ATP - Trenton, NJ

Does anyone have any experience with ATP Trenton or any other flight schools in the area?

Currently reside outside of Philadelphia and looking to make a career change in the next year.

Thanks!

If you get a chance, check out Legacy Aviation at North East Philadelphia airport- I'm currently wrapping up my Commercial & CFI ratings there. The flight school went through some tough times and changed ownership due to the passing of Herbie Hortman a while back but is now thriving and expanding and KPNE is a great airport to fly out of...

Thanks for the response! Yes I did see their website and planned on checking them out. Do they seem to have a large amount of students flying there? Would like to fly commercially and I currently only have my PPL (85hrs). Long way to 1500tt so I hope to CFI locally.

Also, did you do a fast paced program? I'm guessing it's kind of up to you but since I would be quitting my job and income, I would want/need to do it on the full time side.

I just graduated. Flew out of jersey. Finished the program in about 7 months from zero time. It’s a great school. All the aircraft are well maintained and under 3 years old.

I wouldn’t recommend another flight school to be honest. I know too many friends who didn’t take a loan, pay out of pocket, and quit half way through their training because of the cost.

Plus, the crew cross country was great. Flew down to Florida, then to Atlanta and back. It was about a 4 day trip with weather. The cost of the hotels and taxis were already included in the price of tution.

Thanks for your reply!

About how many students were at ATP Trenton while you were there? How was the weather and what time of the year did you do your training? I would like to CFI there, if possible after completing my ratings, is that possible?

Thanks,

Hi I am thinking about going to ATP Trenton for pilot training. How was the instruction there? Was there enough ground school lessons? How many planes are available? Trying to decide between ATP and another flight school. Thanks.

What about Infinity Flight Group right next door to ATP? Through Mercer College as well. Did about 30 hours of single engine time building and the multiengine timebuilding/rating there. Great aircraft. Good team. Reasonable cost. If you get the associates through Mercer you reduce the requirement threshold to 1000 for R-ATP. You like likely want to pursue a bachelors at some point if you don’t have it for the airlines if that is your goal.

Infinity is great, but it’s only an associates so the R-ATP is reduced too 1,250 not 1,000

Thanks for the correction. Yes. It is a great program. The student load is pretty high to so if you are needing to build time as a CFI there opportunity exists.
