Question DALLAS - Split rental for time building.

Hi friends, I'm a 72 hour pilot holing a PPL. I'm currently working on my IFR and planing to go through commercial. I'm part 61 so I need hours! Lot's!

Looking to split airplane costs to build the time. I need some hood time and if you do too I'm happy to be your safety pilot.

I am currently able to rent from two locations. A c172 out of Air Park Dallas and a selection of Grumman Cheetah's out of Dallas Executive. If you have access to other options I'm open to flying from any airport in the DFW area.

Let me know if you have any interest. Would love to hear from you!

I might be interested, struggling to find someone to split time with here in Louisiana. What rate are you getting on the 172?

$135 hour wet. It's a 1972 and is not IFR but it's well maintained and has a pretty fresh rebuilt engine. If you want to know more I'll send you specifics on the plane. The Grumman Cheetah is $155 and has a very similar performance profile to the c172. It's an easy transition. With the low wing configuration it's just a touch slipperier than the c172. Let me know!

Hey, I'm a pretty new student pilot in Carrollton (8.2 hours) and wouldn't mind splitting the C172 out of Dallas Air Park with you once in a while. I don't think I could be your main time building partner, but I'd love to get some extra hours and maybe some pointers while I'm working on my PPL!

,

As a presolo student you can only count flight time with a Flight Instructor towards your PPL apt any other rating later.
Even after you solo you cannot fly with a “passenger” and log PIC.
The only exception being your examiner for the checkride.
So it makes no sense to be paying for hours you can’t log.
You’re better off hanging around the airport and bumming rides in exchange for washing planes, cars, cleaning out hangars or anything else you can barter.
