American Flyers CFI

I have a friend who is at a 141 school now, but the pace is overwhelmingly slow. She begs to be put on the schedule to no avail.

She is considering leaving her 141 school to do her CFI at American Flyers (30-day program).

Anyone have any recent experience with them? If she gets her CFI at AF, what is the likelihood of working there as a CFI? What is the pay and how many hours could she expect per month?

Thanks,

GP

AmericanLyers

I'm not one for talking bad and being that negative nancy on forums but I dodged a bullet not going there.

American Flyers is wonderful. I went tot the Addison location for CFI training. They one of the best in the business.

There are a whole bunch of quick turn CFI programs out there. Some specifically state that they will take you on as a CFI after (if?) you make it through. Some offer discounts if you sign on to work for them for X months or instructing hours.

I think the quality and efficiency of AF depends on the location and who happens to be doing the scheduling. Some locations sound fine, others not so much.

Well, she signed up for AF in hopes of getting her CFI/II.

Will let y'all know how it goes.

I did AF at KADS and worked well for me. You get out of it what you put into it. The harder you work and more you push them the faster it will go. I did the same 30 day course and had both tickets in hand at day 35.

How'd it go? I'm debating AF, at either Addison or Pompano Beach for the 30 day CFI/CFII.

Give US Aviation a call if you're looking for a job after you're done!

I did the PMP program a year ago, it was a LOT of work, but Patrick was an amazing instructor. As someone above said, you get out what you put into it. If you just go drink or do whatever after class every day, you're going to not be as successful as someone who's burning the free sim time, chair flying or practicing with your fellow students.

That being said, I'm not a big fan of the new pricing, it would be a tough pill for me to swallow at the new rate, but if you have GI Bill, it pays a good amount of it.
