Accelerated training?
 

Any recommendations for schools who can do accelerated training for a reasonable price? Looking to do add-on for everything through Commercial, MEL, and possibly CFI/CFII.

Looking at my options and have done some training locally, but it is expensive, and our local mountain weather does hinder training quite a bit in the winter.

Really trying to decide between training locally over a longer period, flying a few days a week, or knocking it all out in a few months so I can get a job by summer.

What a reasonable price?

Good question, some places list their prices, and some don't. I'm not looking for bargain basement flying. Good equipment and instruction is important and I am willing to pay for it, but I also want it to be reasonable.

Around ~$120 wet + ~$55 (plus membership fees)for instructor seems to be inline with what is down in the city 2 hrs away, but that's a little far away for daily flying. $155+85 is what is charged locally.

Looking around the nation, the pricing seems to be all over the board. I'm not looking to cut corners, but if I could pay a little less for flying, I could afford room and board and fly my butt off for a few months and really knock out some ratings.

My other consideration is that the local school offers mountain and high altitude training, which could be good on a resume, especially as I would like to fly in AK for a summer or two to build time.

I already spent a ton of money getting my helicopter ratings a while back too so I'm just trying to be a little more frugal this time around.

I would say that a per-hour price is more important than a per-certificate price. I personally would only pay per hour. I would also be leery of any place that promise x number of certificates for, say, $50,000.

If you want to come to the Houston area, I can help you out. Currently rent our 172 at $110 an hour and $50 bucks for instruction. Also have a Cherokee 140 and a Baron. Great DPE’s going for around $500 a ride. pfactoraviation.com

Honestly since it's winter you're probably better off narrowing down potential locations/areas/states as a starting point. Like I'm 100% sure that you can forget about learning in the Seattle area haha
