I did Instrument - MEI in 5 months at a part 61 school. I'd schedule longer lessons and do 2 lessons per flight. It saved a lot of wasted time getting to/from the practice area. I also did a lot of lessons at night when the planes were less likely to be booked.

With the GI Bill, you really need to be partnered with a college to take full advantage. A vocational school is limited to $13,500 per academic year but at an "institution of higher learning" you can get the full TCO requirements paid for.

International Aero Academy in Lakeland just launched a program where you can interview with United Express (Trans States Airlines) and get a conditional letter of employment BEFORE you start your training. 0-CFI in 7-8 months for $55,000. Trans States will supplement your CFI pay, you will join with 3 months of seniority and start receiving travel benefits of United as soon as you pass the interview. The program also works in conjunction with Southeastern University if you are looking to finance the training with student loans.

Global pilot academy, Tampa. 141 school that does PPL and CFI, CFII part 61. Awesome group of people. Rigid and proven track with a level of personability that makes the program achievable and makes you feel like you are a part of they’re legacy and family. Flat cost and pay as you go, you won’t pay a dollar more than they quote you... Which for zero to CFI, CFII, MEI is 50k.
