A serious flight school anywhere in USA?

Hello guys, I’m looking for a good and professional flying school everywhere in USA. My girlfriend lives in Michigan and obviously I would like to find a good school as close as possible to her, but I can manage to live far away during the study period (we survived when I was in Italy so we can bear some weeks away) I worked for my whole life saving money for this dream and when I’ll finish with my mission abroad I’ll be ready to start, but where?
I know that the weather are an important fact and Michigan I think it isn’t the best place , I think. I’m not young and I’m scared about wasting time.
I’m losing looking through ATP Aviator College Epic flying Academy skymates etc etc
Thanks to anyone can give me some suggestions

ATP is a bit overpriced and a sausage factory.
Depends on the location but some are better and some are worse.
Find a Part 61 school and you could have your Initial CFI at 250 hrs if you combine your Commercial and CFI training.
Find a ramp job at the same airport to minimize the financial bleed.
Buddy of mine was CFI from 8-2 and ramper from 2-10pm for years.

I agree with tired soul. Going through a mom and pop part 61 is almost always cheaper, and offers you flexibility. Best part is, if you're motivated, you can get everything done as quickly as your wallet can expel money

Thank you guys, I’m more worried about having a professional school than how much cost it. It means that I consider it as an investment in my future. I know that ATP , like others , are very expensive but I read positive reviews (and negatives of course because it depends by where) about how fast and still professional their path is and they are connected with a bunch of regionals.
And I want to be honest with you, this interest me a lot because having the possibility for an interview after the ppl could be very exciting and push me in the best way for excel in the study and spending my money [emoji12]

Thank you guys for your time and for your help. I wrote via Tapatalk but maybe I did something wrong. I keep working on searching the best flight school.
I read the ATP’s page and its forum. I know the price but I also know that they have a lot of connections than can help you to archive the first ”promise for a job”just after PPL, that its great

Cobra Kai flight academy in Texas is as serious as you want or need it to be. They're a smallish outfit mostly staffed by ex-military instructors. They have a dozen or so planes and can get you from zero hours to your ATP, at whatever pace you want.

Your Uncle Sam runs a couple of flight schools across the country if you want *really* serious training.

Folgorato196,

I’ve been very fortunate to train quite a few applicants (successfully) from zero to the regionals and 135 operators. The best thing you can do to help yourself get through the training pipeline the quickest and cheapest in no particular order: Pass all of your writtens using ShepperdAir, get your financing lined up, find a school with a DPE on staff or very close by, use a school (141 or 61) that has good weather or hangars their fleet, CFI’s that want to work and fly and that they probably will be there throughout your training cycles. I know that sounds stupid, however, I know several CFI’s that really don’t want to work that hard and don’t enjoy their work, and lastly devote every waking hour to immerse yourself in this endeavor. Basically, learn to live at the airport. GoodLuck

I forgot to add, I have had great experiences at VentureNorth Aviation and Riggin Flying Service. You can find them both on the web.

I’m sorry about my late to tell Thanks to all of you guys for your suggestions. I’m working in my last mix abroad before I’m finally marring my girlfriend and start a new life completely changing my career. I archived my EASA PPL during my studies at an Italian aeronautical secondary school, and now that I have to change my life I would try to see if my old dream will come true in USA.

What is the age? Any college? Is the plan a full time piloting job? If college, you have Western in Kalamazoo, Purdue a bit further South.

If no need for college you need to train up to CFI and Commercial, then you are off to the races. The larger schools training foreign students in FL or AZ will snatch you up.

Any training so far? If you want something you have to go get it, waiting for opportunity to fall in you lap is false hope. Not saying that’s your mentality, just saying, become ‘type A’ about getting it done.

O.K., skimming back it seems you are beyond the college years.

Sorry guys, I don’t know why but talpatalk doesn’t work on my iPhone for unknown reason. I wrote a couple of answers but I can’t see those on the post so I’m writing by my pc when I’m in the office and I have free time. Therefore sorry for my absence.

I’m 36, 37 at 5th June. I think I’m too old for a 4yr college.
I studied aviation in a secondary school in Italy and I have my PPL EASA, just to say that I really love Aviation and I have always dreamt to be a pilot.

Good luck getting someone to answer the phone or return a call. I've been trying to schedule an intro flight for over a month.

Another vote for Riggin. I did my IFR with them and plan on going back for Commercial. Bonus: You do all your training in a tail wheel aircraft

Does anyone here have any insight on Southern Utah University and their flight program?
