Spartan - Tulsa, Ok

Hey all, Just a lurker coming out of my dark hole to call out all the Spartan grads. Anybody got any input on this school? I will be attending this summer after I get out of the Marine Corps and couldn't find too much info on this site. I chose Spartan because of it's location, the fact that the government will be footing most of the bill, and the good reputation that I gathered from many pilots I know.
Just curious if anybody had .02 that they'd like to throw in. Thanks!

P.S - This forum is a great wealth of information. Thanks to all you frequent posters on the informative and interesting posts/discussions!

Why not just go to a normal school? There's more to life than aviation. No one gives a rat's ass about what school you went to once you get on in your career.

Spartan is a ripoff. I know this first hand. Go to a real school and get a non-aviation degree and fly at a local FBO. You will save money and get a real education.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

I've heard very little good about Spartan over the years.

I liked Spartan. Learned a ton there & know a lot of people who made it work out really well for themselves. I'd be interested to hear the specifics about the negative experiences the people posting above me had there though.

While I had a great instructor, the school's management (including the chief CFI at the time) was quite poor. The promises they made were not kept regarding placement status (I was a private pilot), it cost more than they advertised, the facilities were a joke, and the general education classes were all the way across town at the other campus. Housing assistance was poor. I could go on and on. I left for a FBO and don't regret it one bit.

When did you attend? Just curious because I believe -all- classes are held at the flight campus nowadays.

Oci 98-May 99. Do they still have the mobile home classrooms? What a joke that flight campus was. They also only had 1 extremely overpriced twin when I was there.

I don't think they're still in the trailers. From what I've gathered the school has changed a lot over the past two to five years. They don't have a lot of twins. I've seen a handful of them and I know they got some new ones in 2005.
