Student pilot transferring from US to Canada
 

Hello!

I'm a student pilot (it's a hobby, trying to get my PPL) and I have about 30hrs and I'm practicing my solos now. I live in US currently but I'm moving to Canada soon permanently.

Can I use this student flying hours I accumulated with a flight school in USA towards getting a Private pilot license in Canada, give or take? Will these hours be recognized?

If you were going the other direction, the total hours would count towards experience requirements but much of the required training would have to done by a US FAA CFI. I suspect CA is similar.

The US will actually give you a PPL based on a CA PPL. I think you have to take the US written is all. I assume CA would offer the same, so you might be better off just finishing here, and asking CA for a reciprocal PPL. You'll want to verify that with the CA CAA, I'm sure it's on their website.

I'm moving there soon, that ain't changing and flying is recreational for me.

If I had a FAA issued PPL there is a way to convert to Canadian and vice versa. But I'm in the grey area being a student pilot and I couldn't find any documentation on this.

I've requested a couple schools for info on this. Will update when I get a response.

Like you said calling a Canadian Flight School and ask a Canadian CFI about it is your best approach.
My gut feeling tells me that all your US Student hours might not count in Canada because you are not yet a holder of a PPL US Certificate.
