Default Is it okay use multiple instructors at once?

Major questions first:
Is it okay to have your solo observations from different instructors?
Do most people have multiple instructors when they are full time training?

I am trying to keep cost down as much as I can infinity flight group in Trenton is close by- but I’m not sure if they can compete with the current rate I’ve been paying 135$/wet hr 172 w/ ifr capable.

I’m currently frustrated with the haste of my completion of my PPL I have received instruction from a very respected instructor in my region. Though I have the highest esteem for my instructor I’m concerned as 75% of my flights have been canceled for the past two months we usually schedule 4 hours a week which is terribly limited since I quit my 80,000$ a year job to devote my self to full time training. It has been 4 months at this point I have solo’ed but once. I need two more observational solos before I can fly solo cross countries and I’m just very angry that I’m the past two months my log book has recorded 8 hours... in two months. This has been written in six different idea to paper ways- partially venting. My instructor has 20,000 flight hours; I know that experience is hard to come by for flight training but I’m starting to think I’d rather go with someone who is more open because then I’d get more than 9-24 hours in a month. I’ve passed my written but I have done zero night flying and zero solo cross country. Please help!! Thank you for reading this

Assuming all the cancellations were not weather related, thank your instructor for his/her time and move on. Make sure you have a conversation with your next instructor about your goals and desired flight schedule. If he/she can’t meet those needs, find someone who can.

Is it possible to have a couple instructors at once? Say fly with Jim on Monday, Bill Friday, frank on Tuesday? Just to fill up your schedule. I quit my job for this and relying on one individuals schedule availability is limiting my completion of my Ppl. He has taken. 5 weeks or so of vacation and a lot of times he's starting a new student during each week. So he saturates his schedule but I get left behind.

He might be trying to tell you something and he’s not saying it to your face.

Can multiple flight instructors work?
Well it works for the military so I’ll say yes.
Of course that is helped with strict standardization too, something not always present if training at a location, or multiple locations, without a syllabus.

Personally I don’t think you should have quit your job to do your initial training. You had no prior experience with flight and really have no idea if flying if for you. I’m not a fan of pilot-mill fast track programs for training or cost, but if are committed to this road and want quick training then they could get you the PPL in weeks verses months. You will not be retaining knowledge at the rate you are currently flying so every flight will be a refresher basically instead of moving forward.

If he’s taking vacations and adding new students despite not being able to prioritize his current ones you should move on.

I sent you a DM, if you want help researching options I’m familiar with that area and could offer some perspective. There are some places to avoid.

Infinity Flight Group out of TTN is top notch. Depending on your situation they would be my first recommendation.

It's your training, you can have multiple instructors if you want. I used multiple instructors and it worked well for me. Make sure you are using some sort of syllabus or training folder so it's easy for an instructor to see where you are at each time you fly with them.

Talk to your instructor directly. Explain your goals to him. Make sure he knows what your expectations are as far as hours per week go. Set a long range schedule. If you are being canx for wx or mx, sometimes that happens, but if he can't get you on his schedule because he is too busy, find someone who can. Make sure you are up to the challenge of flying frequently. At your level, I wouldn't schedule more than one flight every other day. This gives you time to absorb lessons learned from your previous flight, to prepare for the next flight, and gives you the flexibility to reschedule for the inevitable wx or mx delay
Yes, you can have multiple instructors, but as USMCFLYR mentioned, that really only works if you are in a highly structured, standardized location. As in the military, or some 141 schools. If you are doing this at a part 91 school, you will waste a lot of time bouncing between instructors because people teach differently and without a syllabus to standardize things there will be so much variance between instructor techniques that it will lead to confusion and frustration, IMHO.

It will work fine and is common at a school, especially 141, with a standardized curriculum which all of the instructors follow.

It would be harder doing ad hoc 61 training, with freelance instructors. You'd have to get them to all agree to it, and agree to work around any differences in preferred technique. The student would need to manage that.
