Dallas Flight Schools

Let me know if you have a recommendation from personal experience with a flight school in the Dallas area, to help someone finish up their PPL.

They live near Addison Airport... though I am told that airport might not be good for PPL training due to high volume traffic.

Thank you.

Maybe Monarch at TKI?

I'm not in the DFW are but looking for potential CFI places to instruct. Called Monarch but I got the impression they felt entitled to tell me "you need us more than we need you" attitude. Even the chief pilot guy was short on the phone and in a hurry. Maybe is a place to get training (domestic) but i'm not so sure it would be that great for working there.
I don't have experience with these guys except a co-worker is getting his CFI with them in September. They sound solid for what he said.
Check them out "thrustflight".

I have heard good things about US Aviation up in Denton but they just had an accident involving 2 fatalities so I am not sure how that will be interpreted by others.

My daughter is working on her PPL out of Addison. ADS doesn't let them stay in the pattern, so they usually go over to McKinney for pattern work. They spend a lot of time just getting out of ADS. I'd recommend checking out Monarch at TKI or any other flight schools there.

I'm doing PPL @ Monarch (KADS) and I'm pleased so far. I was nervous having read the reports of high traffic and long waits on the tarmac for students but, outside of the very first lesson I did there, I have not found this to be the case. Usually no worse than 3rd in line for takeoff.

My instruction has been great... CFIs here seem to be very busy though so I'd recommend scheduling at least two weeks out to be safe. The planes are all nice newer C172s w/ glass and the price, while not cheap, seems quite fair to me relative to what neighboring schools are offering.

I will put in a word as well for Aviator Air out of KGPM... much more laid back than KADS (not that learning in busy KADS airspace is necessarily a bad thing)… the people there were very cool and if you're looking for Part 61 it's a good option. They no longer offer 141 which is why I went to Monarch (I probably needed the "structure" and the possibility of getting ratings in fewer hours was intriguing).

The traffic here isn't bad if you leave at the right time of day. Wait times average probably around 15 minutes on the high end. At Thrust Flight we specialize in Zero to Airline but if you get us during the right time of year our schedule is light enough to do private finish ups.
