SkyWarrior Flight School - Any Thoughts?
 

Does anyone have any experience or feedback about this school in Pensacola? It looks like ATP, but smaller and few thousand cheaper. On my first contact with them, they said I could enter with a PPL and their instructors (they guarantee a job) are getting around 100 hrs per month. I could also potentially have free housing in Pensacola.

I'm a career change guy and at 34, I think this route would be the best for me to get in the air the quickest. The mom and pop route is not real feasible due to my location and will almost be the same cost. It would be harder for me to take off six months without an income, but I think I could swing it without having to borrow any $.

I haven’t heard much things about that flight school. I’m currently at AMS Flight School in Milton, roughly 30-45 minutes away from Skywarrior. I’m pursuing my PPL here, currently at 25 hours. It’s taking forever due to lack of funds and maintenance issues. If you have any questions about AMS send me a PM. The only thing I can tell you about Skywarrior is that you’ll get your ratings much faster there and my instructor actually left that school to be at AMS if that means anything to you...Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't heard of AMS but will check it out. That doesn't sound great that your instructor left SkyWarrior. I forgot to mention that they told me class sizes were 10-15 students at a time.

May want to ask in the regional forums (search for RTP discussions). I believe some of the RTPs use that school. Some of those folks may offer some insight to their operation - at least from a student’s perspective.

I went to AMS in Milton from February 2018 - June 2019. It worked out great for me. I instructed there from March 2019- June and the only reason I’m not an instructor there anymore is because I moved to Texas. I was able to do lots of flying as long as you are willing to work for it. I can answer any questions you have about AMS if you want to pm me. Also all I can say about salt warrior is that I was on their waiting list to start their professional pilot program and they never called me to start. I found AMS and was very happy their.
