CFI hours @ L-3
Does anyone here have first hand knowledge of how much flying the instructors get to do at L-3?

100 hrs per month
Hey a330er, I am at L3 (now L3Harris) currently. Most instructors are averaging about 100 hours per month, although some are going more and some are less. I think there are like 600+ students so there's plenty of work.

Most of the students are from Asia and many can barely speak passable English. They stay busy but it will be a challenge.
Also, they make you wear long pants and a tie in the Florida weather. |
700+ students. Mix of contract students (Chinese, Korean, Saudi) and self-sponsored students (domestic and everyone else not contracted). Instructors can get 100+ hours a month if you want it.
Work 5 days a week and work a 6th day if you want. I believe right now they are still giving out a housing bonus and will pay for CFII and eventually MEI with a contract. Edit: Also brand new airplanes on the way with the purchase of 200+ Piper Archers. |

In all seriousness, I worked there before it was L3 and they worked us so hard it was borderline dangerous. 12-16 hour days for most instructors, five to six days a week. My roommate was also a CFI there and I think we saw each other at our apartment maybe five times over the course of a year. I'm not even joking. |

Is the hourly pay ALL billable flight, sim, ground? So if that’s the case the billable time a month could be 150 or more? Do they offer medical and dental? Thanks |

If say a CFI wants to go to CRG instead of SFB will the average be more like 60-80 hours?

There are benefits offered on day 1. CRG may fly a lot as well, but not as many as SFB. You get paid for flight, sim and ground. Ground and Flight pay is different, but you could obviously bill more than just flight if you do ground briefs, sim sessions, and pickup other students for the day if an instructor calls out sick, etc.
How many hours a day due people spent at the airport in a day? Is it safe to say you get 5-7 flight hours a day. Average? Do you know if they are offering the CFII for minimal dual given commitment? In all honesty how much do you think the foreign students really understand? I read somewhere they never go solo anywhere? There is always a safety pilot (CFI) with them and a great way to log hours for minimal teaching during that time. Thanks |
Whats the pay like at L3?
