Louisiana Tech Aviation seeks new Leader

I had head that the Louisiana Tech Dept. of Professional Aviation is seeking a new Chair/Head. Attached is the position announcement.

The current Dept. Head was loved by many but did not like kissing babies and playing politics. Louisiana Tech has lots of growing pains and I hope whoever replaces the current head knows how to grow a program full of potential.

Pros:
- One of the cheaper 141 collegiate programs
- Great professors that care about you
- College is best in the state
- New G1000NXi 172's and PA-28R's
- Small airport so you're not burning Hobbs like Riddle
- Many airline partnerships

Cons:
- Surplus of CFI's than a shortage of CFI's annually. Constantly up and down
- Program is unstable and has seen many students branch off and learn at nearby Part 61 schools to finish quicker
- CFI's are now metered and work is distributed
- Enrollment requirements went way up to bring in "better quality" students
- CFI pay is way below national average
- State of LA is poor and the current governor seems to not care about education
- LA Tech teaches you to become a CFI and not a professional pilot
- Professors have no airline or professional pilot background (USAF ATC, USAF fighter pilot, career CFI and airport manager)

Tech is a very good program and I do wish the best for it and hope it grows. We literally had our own three floor building built for us but with 2001, 2008 and current state funding, the first and second floors are no longer our's and are used for other departments.
