Default Skipping SEL commercial-straight to multi.

Hello everyone I am a rotary Wing to fix Wing guy doing the transition with trans States Airlines they're funding my training right now and I am in a bit of a time crunch. I already have my private rating along with my instrument rating for airplane of course I already have my commercial helicopter. I was wanting to know if it was a bad idea for me in order to save time to skip my single-engine commercial and go straight to the multiengine commercial instead. It's not required for me to have the single-engine so I was wondering if I was missing out on anything thoughts opinions would be greatly appreciated thank you very much.

You're not going to miss anything except the extra money that should be in your wallet. You'll need to comply with the aeronautical experience listed in 61.129, so you're going to be flying the twin for at least 25 hrs in order to be eligible for the added category and class on your pilot certificate.

It's actually cheaper if he doesn't need a ASEL. Sounds like he has the military R-ATP using rotor wing time and is just doing the AMEL so he can move straight to the airlines which require 25 hours of ME.

US Aviation does the commercial multi initial for the majority of our students. Not a problem in any way, you may just need to get a SE add-on if you ever want your CFI.

Sorry for coming back to my thread so late. I think I'll do exactly that then. Can anyone tell me what manuevers I will be graded on having skipped my single engine commercial and going straight to multi commercial?

You’re going to really miss doing Chandelles and Lazy-8s, but you’ll get over it.

Ha ha. Those manuevers suck. This biggest struggle I have had with this is (though appears ro be resolved now) DPE availability and flight school availability
