I would say it's not that big of a deal at all. Obviously SWA is now hiring people prior to getting the type. If they don't care where you get it after they hire you why would they care where you get it before?

On second thought.... maybe I'm wrong. Have any of you guys/gals out there that have been hired by SWA been recommended to go to either of these two companies by SWA?

The best place just might be the cheapest place. Google search a 737 type rating and just call all the places and ask questions, epecially price. An A320 type for example varied as much as $6000 at US Airways (Charlotte) up to $14,000 at Pan Am flight academy in 2007.

It's $7,300 VA approved. For the last couple of years most of the Navy guys stationed down in Corpus go there. The owner is awesome. I think they may be operating out of Dallas for a while though. I will P.M. you the website. Out of the two years I've been in Corpus I know of only one two people that have gone there and not gotten hired by SWA. Those that didn't got on at FedEX and JetBLue.

I dont care much about price. There all between 6000 and 7400. Just want quality and a foot in the door.

Thanks.
how about going somewhere that pays for your training

If you are a low time guy, you should go with higher power if nothing else but for the contacts. If you have loads of PIC time then it just doesn't matter. A type rating is as good from one place as it is another.

I don't think SWA has any preference on where you get the type rating. The application only asks if you have a rating and not where you got it from.

I got mine from Lone Eagle. You do all the prep online before you get there. One day of ground school and 5 days of sims. Drinking from the firehose but it's cheap and done. Right now they're advertising $5995.

Lone Eagle's sim is in Las Vegas and there's a couple other companies that use the same one who also have lower priced programs.
