Best college programs for GI Bill
Hello all. I am looking into flight programs at colleges wondering if any one had inputs or suggestions. I am looking into Utah Valley University, Utah State University, Big Bend Community College (WA), and Central Washington University. I am only eligible for 90% of the post 9/11 GI Bill, which makes Liberty University not an option because I cannot get the Yellow Ribbon Program. I already have a bachelors degree in criminal justice, so I am primarily trying to use the GI Bill to best fit flying. USU said they need me to complete 12 credits from their campus before I can even apply for flying, which would add two additional semesters (one for the 12 credits and one because applications for the flight program are submitted 30-60 days before the next semester, but need final grades) confusing I know... CWU’s program I’ve heard is not that great and pretty restrictive, but I’m a Washington resident so I’m keeping it an option. USU’s program looks pretty similar to UVU’s but I am not sure if they offer flight training over summer or if they have the strict application process as well. And finally BBCC. Their program has been around from the 60s and they claim to have VFR 350 days a year. I’m just unsure how good of a program it is. It’s a two year program that’s part 141, but I’ve never heard anything or anyone talking about it. Please let me know if y’all have any suggestions or help thanks in advance!

Where do you live and where do you want to live? Are you flexible?
Use the VA WEAMS locator tool and browse the states with flight programs.

Take a look at Central Oregon community college... I believe the two year programs are more straight forward to get all your ratings compared to what I have heard with 4 year programs. Since you already hold a bachelor's, I would rule out most universities just based on your feedback from USU. Two- year programs are a little harder to find, but you have one in WA already listed and I just gave you another, so you're in good shape.
Good luck with your decision. Once you make it study like it's your job and fly at least 4x a week. Youtube is great for ground school learning, especially if something isn't clicking that your instructor is teaching you.
