Fits

I'm wondering what everyone has heard or seen about FITS and if you have any experience with it. If so, what are your initial perceptions?

Pilotpip 05-21-2007 08:36 PM

Scenario-Based-Training (SBT) is where the FAA is going. Both CFI jobs I have had have utilized this.

My perception, it's great for instrument and advanced training, and also good once you get through the basics of flight. Lowers training times. Also I think it gives a real-world theme to the training versus doing maneuvers over and over again.

Did you work in a 141/University setting then?

Pilotpip 05-22-2007 07:39 AM

I've done it in both. First place was only using FITS for the glass stuff (The first approved in the country to do so). Once I got comfortable getting out of FAA train of thought I started applying it elsewhere and I had very positive results.

Do you mind if I ask where you did that? We started doing Private and Instrument together using the FITS methodology this Spring. We're adding the Commercial this fall (as long as the syllabus is done).
