FlightSafety – King Air 200 Initial
Long time reader, first time poster…
I will be starting initial training on the King Air 200 at FlightSafety in Wichita East in several weeks. I was wondering if anyone has experience going through this training, and if they can give me as much insight as to what to expect including during the check ride at the end of 2 weeks.
Thanks!

Welcome to the King Air. It’s a fabulous aviation appliance and you’ll love it. I did KA300/350 at the same facility in December 2020. Instructors are extremely knowledgeable on systems and know exactly where to focus. You’ll get more than enough sim time, and you’ll know everything that’s going to happen on the check ride before you get there. If you haven’t done turbine engines Or pressurization in the past I would recommend learning about how those systems work in a general sense before you learn about the specific systems. If you’ve never used a good autopilot or FMS, drag your butt to the training center on the weekend and work on procedures in the flat panel trainer.
Good luck. It’s a fun, forgiving airplane, really.

Buy and read the Turbine Pilot's Flight Manual if you have never flown a plane with a turbine before:

Careful, there is a guy there that can make your life a living hell if you’re not prepared. I witnessed a veteran pilot fail his check ride because this individual can intimidate the $&@% out of you. I found very little consistency in what I was taught in training from what I experienced in the check ride. I would go to the facility in Lutz, FL. It was top notch and not intimidating whatsoever.

Thank you I am very excited about it.
Just curious, does the ground portion conclude with a written exam, and if so, multiple choice or you actually have to write out the answers? This is my first time going through FS, so this is new to me.
