What to do now?

I am now flying solo and feel confident doing private pilot maneuvers (steep turns, slow flight, stalls, turns around a point, s-turns, crosswind landings, shorts and softs, VOR nav). I am now waiting for my intsurctor to give me x-country training and night training. What can i do until this time? Do I continue to get better at these maneuvers?

Even if you can't quickly schedule the next steps in your training, you still need to keep flying and practicing the manuevers so you don't forget them. I did a lot of that when I was a student pilot because I was pretty busy and my CFI was navy pilot who had to go to sea a lot, so it was hard to coordinate our schedules. Took me three years and 80+ hours, most of which was just me buzzing around the local area solo.

Maybe you could ask him what to do so when he gets back you will be on the same page.

I had the same problem when I was working on ppl. My instructor would say, ok see ya in three weeks. She did this repeatedly and I felt like a red-headed orphan. I would fly my pc, listen to airband scanner, study, get rides with rated pilots, and fly around the pattern. Oh, and watch aviation movies.

Whats a pilot to do?! Yeah thats how it is for me... I continue to study and practice the maneuvers. I'm not complaining as I continue to learn something every time I fly. Patience is the name of the game.
