commercial written or ATP written 1st

I'm studying on my own for my commercial written. I plan to pay the $295 and do the 1 day deal at ATP for my ATP written. I had a thought that maybe I should reverse this ... that way I get a full day of ground school at ATP which sould help me with my commercial ??? Sound reasonable or am I missing anything.

Not sure it would help you... The 1day ATP at the school is just narrowing things down on the ATP that you probably wouldn't know from your previous tests. They take the ATP test bank of like 900 questions and narrow it down to like a 300 question test bank. In an attempt to get you used to doing things that you're probably not familiar with. Also the 1day study thing isn't ground school it's just you sitting at the computer answering questions. Now if you do have a question about something someone will be there to help you?

I did the FEw thru ATP. The course was ok. My biggest complaint was the price! All you do is sit in front of a computer a look at questions for several hours, $295, come on now. You can buy software now that make studying at home easier than it use to be and is much cheaper. I would search/ask around here to see what others have used.
