Weather sucks in Texas

I was going to do my first cross country yesterday, but it was a bad day. I tried to fly today also, but it's the same weather again. I got all my flight planning done, but only if the weather cooperated. Oh well, I'm scheduled to fly next weekend. Hope it will be VFR weather. Just wanted to get this out of my chest.

POPA 06-25-2007 09:13 AM

EVERYTHING sucks in Texas.
...except for Shiner Bock.

I'm starting to get sick of the weather here too. I can't work unless the weather is halfway decent. Oh well. Looks like PB&J for a little while longer :(.

Apparently you've never been to chilifest. Staying within 10nm of Hobby isn't everything. Texas is awesome. It's a scientific fact.

I'd been much further away from HOU than 10 miles long before I even sent my application in to RAH.

POPA - what a ridiculous post. Texas rocks - been to Austin? San Antonio?

I prefer Texas to the United States. I grew up in Houston, College-d in San Marcos and now am exiled to Kansas City. I am pro-seccesion and think Texas should be a Republic again. Go to Rick's Cabaret, have a cool one, and re-think your silly attitude about Texas.

Longbow64 06-26-2007 05:12 AM

I can' say I hate Texas. The only place I hate in Texas is Killeen/Ft.Hood area. Just because I'm in the Army. That place is depressing, full of angry Army people, drugs, etc. That's why I'm taking flying lessons so I can get away on weekends, but then again the weather f&cks up the whole thing.

Oh I eat them all the time too. Just wish I could mix it up a little. You know, maybe a hamburger every now and again without feeling guilty for spending the 5 bucks.

Ya Popa, what stinsonjr said!!! Ziegen Bock is the other good thing about Texas!!:D

I have been to both of these cities and while Austin is fun, I have been to alot better places.

That says it all about Texans!! Say it with me, Texas is a part of the United States, not the other way around! Wow, I know that was tough but you made it, good job.

Talk sh!t about your state all day long but if you say one thing bad about Texas, they will go on this long rant about how their flag is the only one that can fly as high as the American flag...blah, blah, blah. It's actually quite entertaining!

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Please take W with you.

Outstanding responses to my pro-Texas rant!

Have you heard the one about Texas being able to fly their flag at the same height as the US Flag? :)
(Actually, I am not sure this is actually true, i think it is an urban myth. We may be allowed to, but I have not seen it - usually the Stars and Stripes is higher)
One of the great things about being a Texan is to be somewhere else, anywhere else (but particularly Oklahoma) and go on a pro-Texas rant and see the immdiate venom that occurs from others - it is a blast. They blame Texas for everything from W. to rattlesnakes, to heat and humidity. It is great fun and works on APC too.

I was in a T-shirt shop on 6th street in Austin, bought a shirt that helps when I do this, it simply says, in big block letters:

"****** Y'ALL, I'm From Texas" - it usually gets a laugh.

Never blamed Texas for anything, I just like doing the same thing you do but against Texas. Just gotta be careful, some people take it better than others! ;) Some people get it and some don't, you obviously do! Your alright Stinsinjr, even if you are a Texan! :D

I'm partial to my T-shirt that says: "I mess with Texas!!!!"

TXTECHKA 06-28-2007 09:22 AM

Texas could survive without the U.S. but the U.S. couldn't survive without Texas!

I got one the same evening as my other shirt, had a picture of Willie flipping the bird and said "Don't mess with Texas".

Actually, the place I got these shirts sums up the city of Austin perfectly. I was in town on business, and that evening after dinner I went to 6th Street. I was at a great piano bar and went ourside...next door was the biggest head shop I had ever seen. That is where i got the shirts - those two for me, one for my wife, and a tie-dyed shirt for my nine year old that says "Keep Austin Weird". Austin has politics a little to the left of San Francisco, and is surrounded by the rest of Texas which is more conservative that Atilla's reign. Kind of a fun dynamic.

As long as we can agree that Oklahoma sucks, I think we can all get along!

jsfBoat 07-08-2007 06:42 PM

hey longbow I'm out here in Jersey by Ft. Dix with the army as well and when the WX bad is here, it's bad for a week. I feel your pain.

vagabond 07-08-2007 06:56 PM

These are the reasons I love Texas even though I'm a Seattle girl inside out: San Antonio, Whataburger, Rudy's BBQ, Bill Miller BBQ, Sonic strawberry milkshake and Shiner Bock.

Yes - we can agree, and you can buy the first round. I would suggest at Kruez meats, in Lockhart, TX - best BBQ in the world! Washed down with an ice cold Lone Star!

Well that's just simple physics, how else does Texas keep from falling off into the gulf?

A little slice of heaven during my otherwise hellish year at Laughlin AFB was the out & backs to College Station for a Freebirds Burrito.

For a change, you could have trekked up to Big Spring for a helping of grease at the Wagon Wheel drive-in. That place was a slice of something, for sure. When they closed the base, they made a federal prison out of it. Really!
