WMU
Does anyone know what Western Michigan University charges hourly for the Cirrus? And how much is the instructor?
Thanks |

$276+$55 whatever you do get your ppl somewhere else before going to any 141 program. It costs 23.4K to get it done at WMU, if you finish at the bare minimums. If you show up with your ppl, there’s a 6.2k ppl transition course you gotta take. As long as you don’t spend 17k on a ppl, you should come out ahead. You will not finish at the minimums with Michigan weather. |

6.2k transition course? Wtf, that sounds like a pure scam.
to op, Purdue will have just as bad wx as wmu. So take that into consideration. Also heard Purdue puts a cap on enrollment. Lotta freshmen don’t fly at WMU bc idk plane/CFI availability or something. |

Transition Course is a little less than $6k, it's like 8 hours of dual and 2 or 3 hours of Sims to get you up to speed on glass cockpit/TAA and "certify safe for solo" before they'll let you start instruments; they're very big on standardization and it probably helps with insurance. My understanding is that Purdue dropped their SR20's and went back to Archers, we're currently soliciting offers from Cirrus and Piper to replace the current fleet as well (Tons of MX issues and Cirrus is afraid we'll flood the market) |

The bigger joke is that our SR20-G2's are de-rated from 200HP so you don't get a high performance endorsement even though you're flying the "faster and more jet-like" GA trainers.

I don't see that happening. |

Anything greater than 200HP requires a HP endorsement. So 201HP would require it, 200HP does not.
