If you're a military heavy guy, I wouldn't worry so much about another type as I would getting recency of experience flying. You flew heavies so they know you can pass a type ride and fly. And more importanlty....you can plug right in to the crew environment. Just get the ATP in anything like a light twin, then work on recency of experience. The regionals are over a barrel and paying big $$ just to get you to show up, so you have them by the short hairs. Get a few months or so there and move on. Don't feel bad "using them". They used and abused generations of pilots and so payback is a b1tch. Heck even the majors are hurting, so your progression to get there should be fast. You're in a sweet spot once you have some recency.
