I flew skydivers all day today. It was sweet. However I am drained from constant up and down!!! Made some money and logged a bunch of time :) I was suppose to jump today with my friends, but they needed a pilot so I flew my friends instead.

Wmu grad -- where are you doing the divers at? and are there any other job openings. I have applied but no such luck.. some places want a year commitment since the season is almost over. also looked at that website for aerial stuff.. couldt find any info regarding employment. thus curious to know where to go

so i have heard... but where do you find them... only place i have seen this was in Los Angles or Las Vegas... nothing in detroit or columbus or other cities.. in fact most of them are with helio's to my understanding
I'm flying out of plainwell, and they're pretty good on pilots. I'm a backup pilot but they've used me 3 times now in a month. It's just something to do on the weekend if they need me. they're a bunch of cool guys, but not something to rely on. I miss flying ifr and instruments too.

Cloud seeding. They usually hire guys with very low time and it's usually multi time. You fly into level 5 thunderstorms and do what cloud seeders do. I'm looking into it myself in the midweat for a few months. Will be GREAT experience and teach you a cr@p ton about thunderstorms.
First.... my company in particular does not just hire any low time pilot with the required certificates. You need either a meteorology background or have taken wx mod classes in school.
Second... most companies... with the exception of the high priced contracts that are won by said companies... do not operate multi engine aircraft. Too expensive for required elements of the contract. SOAR and WMI are the only companies that I know of that consistently operate multi engine a/c on their contracts.
Third... we do not fly into level 5 T-storms.... that would be counterproductive.... plus at my current employer we have certain "seeding termination" criteria which does not allow us to seed those cells. Furthermore... if you were seeding a level 5 you would not be doing your job correctly.
Fourth... I hope you did get hired by a company for the summer season and if you did you should pm me so we can tell each other stories about Jesus... drink beer... tell some lies... and get into some trouble!
Fifth.... you do learn a lot about keeping your own @ss out of trouble... usually by getting into situations that are less than desirable and then getting out of them... this tends to be the reason that people like to employ folks with wx mod experience... because we know how to stay away from compromising situations and not need to use our top gun piloting skills to get out.
